As many of you know, a fire broke out in downtown Bowmanville on March 6 and impacted several buildings, including ours. Our upper bedroom gallery suffered damage, and the hours of water used to contain the fire led to flooding throughout the rest of our showroom, affecting the furniture and flooring.

We’re in the process of replacing all the flooring and floor models to ensure everything is fresh and undamaged when we reopen. It’s going to take some time, but we’re committed to getting back up and running.

We would like to acknowledge the efforts of the fire and police departments, who remained on scene for hours after the fire was out to make sure the area stayed safe. We truly appreciate everything they did to contain the fire as much as possible.

This March marked our 30th anniversary of being a family-run business in downtown Bowmanville—a milestone year for us. We certainly didn’t expect it to look like this, but the outpouring of support from the community has been truly remarkable. From the phone calls and emails to the fundraising efforts supporting local businesses and families affected by the fire—your kindness has not gone unnoticed. We truly love this community.

To the other local businesses on our street who were affected and have had to close their doors temporarily. We know this is an incredibly difficult time as many of you navigate insurance, repairs, or search for new spaces. We’re thinking of you and hope to see all of our neighbours back and thriving again in the near future.

Though our showroom is temporarily closed, our warehouse is fully operational. Deliveries are going out as planned, new orders are being placed, and we’re still here for you. The best way to reach us right now is by email, as we have construction underway and our usual hours have shifted.

We’ll keep you posted on our progress and can’t wait to welcome you back soon.

FAQ: What You Need to Know Right Now

Will the store reopen?

Yes, the store will reopen. It may look a little different, as we’ve lost the upper gallery showroom, but we’re reorganizing and will be back with all your favourite Canadian-made furniture options. We know now more than ever that our customers are looking for locally made pieces, and we’re planning to bring back your favourites from Handstone, Cardinal, and our Mennonite furniture partners—along with some newer lines we were already hoping to introduce in 2025. Now’s our opportunity to make that happen.

Are orders still going out?

Yes! Our warehouse is in a separate location and fully operational. Orders are being delivered as scheduled.

Are you still placing new orders and sending out quotes?

We are. Whether you’re ready to place an order or just exploring options, we’re happy to help. We can walk you through everything by email or phone and provide quotes as needed.

Can I still reach someone?

Definitely. The best way to get in touch is by email—we’re checking it regularly and doing our best to respond quickly.

What if I want to add onto something I’ve already ordered?

We’ve got you covered. We still have all your original order details and can help you add on to your collection.

Can I still see samples or pick a stain or fabric?

We’re figuring out the best way to offer that while the showroom is being repaired. If you’re interested, send us an email and we’ll do our best to coordinate something that works for you.

Are you still working with customers?

Yes—we’re still here to help with orders, questions, quotes, and more. Things may look a little different behind the scenes, but we’re still working closely with our customers.
